White Light
White Light was not planned. It grew from the life we began living.
White Light is a quiet Himalayan space near Solan, Himachal Pradesh, held by my wife and me.
It is a place for silence, meditation, healing, nature and simple living.
How It Began
I did not come to the land with a plan to create a retreat centre.
I came because I was exhausted and needed to live differently.
In the early days, there was very little infrastructure. I began simply, building with mud, earth, wood and natural materials.
The first structures were created as places to live rather than as parts of a larger institution.
Over time, friends began to visit. Some came to rest. Others came to meditate, heal, reflect or spend time in nature.
The land seemed to offer people what it had first offered me: enough distance from ordinary noise to hear something quieter within themselves.
White Light grew gradually from these experiences.
Founders of WhiteLight
Christina’s journey brought another quality to the space.
Trained as a pharmacist in Germany, she had moved through service, art therapy, yoga, meditation and healing before coming to India.
My natural attention often goes toward the physical and practical aspects of White Light—the land, construction, infrastructure and long-term development.
Christina brings a quieter and more subtle presence through her sensitivity, creativity and way of holding people without directing them.
Together, we try to protect the atmosphere of the place rather than fill it with constant programmes.
What the Name Means
The name White Light reflects the quality of sattva—clarity, harmony and balance.
For us, it represents a way of living that is simpler, closer to nature and less driven by constant stimulation.
The structures are built largely with natural materials such as mud and clay. The landscape is allowed to remain open and earthy. Silence is not treated as an activity within the schedule; it is part of the environment itself.
The intention is not to impress people.
It is to remove enough distraction for something more essential to become visible.
What White Light Is
White Light is an evolving sanctuary and spiritual school.
It is a place where different forms of meditation, healing, yoga, art, reflection and inner work can coexist without becoming rigid or sectarian.
It is small by design.
The emphasis is not on crowded programmes, luxury, entertainment or spiritual performance.
The emphasis is on presence.
What White Light Is Not
White Light is not a mass wellness resort.
It is not a real-estate development.
It is not a guru-centred ashram.
It is not a place that promises instant transformation.
There is no pressure to become a different person during a short stay.
We simply create the conditions in which rest, clarity and inner movement may become possible.
The Experience
Days at White Light are intentionally simple.
You may wake with birdsong, sit in meditation, walk through the forest, rest beneath a tree, read, journal, share a quiet meal or spend time doing nothing.
Some retreats are guided. Others are largely open.
Our role is not to tell every person what they should experience. Our role is to maintain the integrity of the space.
Nature, silence and stillness do much of the teaching.
Who Comes to White Light
Many people arrive physically tired, mentally overloaded or emotionally disconnected.
They may be founders, professionals, healers, artists, couples, families or individuals moving through a period of transition.
Most do not need more information.
They need a real pause.
They need time away from screens, responsibilities, identities and the pressure to keep moving.
White Light offers that pause.
What We Hope Remains
We do not measure transformation through dramatic experiences.
A meaningful shift may be very small.
A little more awareness.
A softer response.
A clearer decision.
A greater ability to remain present.
A more compassionate relationship with oneself or another person.
The real value of silence is revealed after one returns to ordinary life.
If even a small part of that stillness travels home with someone, White Light has served its purpose.
The Future
We see White Light gradually becoming a shared sanctuary for sincere teachers, healers, seekers and students.
It may host meditation, yoga, art therapy, music, breathwork, hypnotherapy, conscious leadership and other forms of inner and preventive work.
But growth must not destroy the quality that makes the space valuable.
We want to expand with care—protecting the land, the silence, the intimacy and the earth-connected character of the place.
Success will not be measured only by how many people come.
It will be measured by the sincerity with which the space is held.
